Recommended Xbox 360 Games for Kids

When buying a game for a child it can be hard as a parent to know what is suitable. Not only that, but some games can also be too difficult for their age group.

Please note that this is just a personal guide. Be sure to always check the age rating on the game box before purchase.

Recommended Xbox 360 Games for Children
(This list is in no particular order)

1. Cars: The Movie
Game Type: Racing / Adventure
This game offers two main modes of play which greatly changes the skill level to suit younger players, and involves collecting items and racing other cars from the film. The graphics are good enough to please children and the voices match those from the movie.

2. Open Season
Game Type: Adventure
This game is probably one of the best kids games I have personally enjoyed. But this isn’t about me. A friend of mine has 3 children of ages 3 (almost 4), 8 and 10. All of which really love this great game. The game features some great characters (all of which are from the film), voice acting, and colourful levels. The game includes platforming elements, puzzles (using the wildlife against enemies and obstacles), and racing/driving. There is loads to do here!

3. Guitar Hero: World Tour
Game Type: Music
This game was a huge suprise. I always used to think that Guitar Hero games were a waste of time (as time required to master the difficult songs would be better spent on learning a real instrument). However, after getting a great deal on this I decided to give it a try.

Depending on the version you get there will be a drumkit, microphone and guitar included, or just a guitar on it’s own (both include the game though). This game is great for helping improve hand-to-eye co-ordination and timing, as it requires you to match buttons/colours/notes/vocals onscreen along to various famous songs. This has even helped inspire my friends 2 oldest children to learn a real instrument. (also, I’d just like to add a note that this game supports left-handed players).
