Fable 2 DLC: Knothole Island

Filed under: Reviews | 0 Comments

Fable 2 Knothole Island Xbox 360 Downloadable ContentAs most fans of Fable 2 already know, the new downloadable island has been available for a little while now. However, I hadn’t had time to post about it yet! Here’s some of the main points about the game for those still considering the purchase…

Is it worth buying Fable 2 again if you have already sold it?
If you have already sold your copy of the game due to completion or boredom, I doubt you will find this new addon worthwhile. The island’s three quests are pretty short, amounting to only a couple of hours gameplay.

How easy are the achievements?
Very easy. Knothole Island comes with 100 new obtainable gamerscore points, split between 3 achievements. The first requires completion of the main quest line whilst the other two are collectible based.

Is there any replay value in Knothole Island?
Not really. The island has a couple of shops, but nothing that really stands out. The island itself is fairly small and the novelty of seasons can wear off fairly quickly.

Is Knothole Island DLC worth the 800 points?
Whilst my post may sound fairly negative at the moment I would have to say that this is worth the 800 points. I can see that this addon took time to develop, and I’d really love to see more Fable 2 DLC in the future. I really like Knothole Glade in the original game so I was glad to see it’s return in Fable 2.

What does the Knothole Island DLC contain?

  • A New Island To Explore (obviously)
  • 3 New Quests
  • New Clothing Items
  • New Potions
  • New Weapons
  • A Unique Shop

Should I buy the Knothole Island DLC?
Chances are that if you are reading this blog post, you are interested in Fable 2. So yes, if you enjoy Fable 2 even half as much as I do, I highly recommend you purchase this addon. It is quite a small addon, but it is definitely an experience I enjoyed.

Don't Buy Burnout: Paradise… Yet!

Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate BoxSometimes it’s nice to take a break from all the RPGs and action games on the Xbox 360, and enjoy playing a racing game.

Recently I got the urge to purchase the highly recommended Burnout: Paradise. I have been a huge fan of the series ever since Burnout 3 on the Xbox (original). It’s a bit more of an arcade-handling driving game compared to the likes of Project Gotham Racing and Forza Motorsport, but I prefer that. (It’s also very adrenaline-fueled and great for multiplayer!).

I was just about to buy a copy when I stumbled across something interesting in the pre-order listings. Namely, Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box. For the same price as the original release (£24.99 at time or writing)!

So, what’s new with the “Ultimate Box”?

  • An enhanced and improved version of Burnout Paradise.
  • New vehicles including motorbikes.
  • New game modes and challenges
  • All new offline party mode for 2-8 players
  • Day to night cycle and weather effects

Basically it is the old version with all the online downloadable content included as well as a few minor tweaks to improve gameplay. So, if your thinking about buying this great game, just hold on for a few more weeks and purchase a copy of Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box instead!

Easy Achievements – Boost Your Gamerscore

Easy Xbox 360 AchievementsI originally wrote this little “guide” for another website, but I thought it would be a good idea to share here also. Below is a list of xbox 360 games that have easy achievements.

Avatar: The Legend Of Aang – The Burning Earth

This is probably the easiest game to earn a full 1000 achievement points. I managed to do it within about 5 minutes (including time taken to put the game in the xbox 360 and load it up).

Peter Jackson’s King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie

The achievements in this game are fairly straightforward. You earn them simply by playing through the game. It’s hard to estimate the time taken as it was so long ago. I’d say it takes about 8 hours to get the full 1000. The game isn’t too hard and is quite enjoyable in certain parts.

Recommended Xbox 360 Games for Kids

When buying a game for a child it can be hard as a parent to know what is suitable. Not only that, but some games can also be too difficult for their age group.

Please note that this is just a personal guide. Be sure to always check the age rating on the game box before purchase.

Recommended Xbox 360 Games for Children
(This list is in no particular order)

1. Cars: The Movie
Game Type: Racing / Adventure
Cars Xbox 360 Kids GameThis game offers two main modes of play which greatly changes the skill level to suit younger players, and involves collecting items and racing other cars from the film. The graphics are good enough to please children and the voices match those from the movie.

2. Open Season
Game Type: Adventure
Open Season - Recommended for ChildrenThis game is probably one of the best kids games I have personally enjoyed. But this isn’t about me. A friend of mine has 3 children of ages 3 (almost 4), 8 and 10. All of which really love this great game. The game features some great characters (all of which are from the film), voice acting, and colourful levels. The game includes platforming elements, puzzles (using the wildlife against enemies and obstacles), and racing/driving. There is loads to do here!

3. Guitar Hero: World Tour
Game Type: Music
Guitar Hero - Great for getting kids into learning musicThis game was a huge suprise. I always used to think that Guitar Hero games were a waste of time (as time required to master the difficult songs would be better spent on learning a real instrument). However, after getting a great deal on this I decided to give it a try.

Depending on the version you get there will be a drumkit, microphone and guitar included, or just a guitar on it’s own (both include the game though). This game is great for helping improve hand-to-eye co-ordination and timing, as it requires you to match buttons/colours/notes/vocals onscreen along to various famous songs. This has even helped inspire my friends 2 oldest children to learn a real instrument. (also, I’d just like to add a note that this game supports left-handed players).

More Recommended Xbox 360 Games for Kids:
As I get more time I will expand on the following titles (as I have above) trying to provide as much useful information as possible. For now though, here is just a basic list.

  • Kung Fu Panda
  • Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga
  • Lego Indiana Jones
  • Lego Batman
  • Disney Sing It
  • Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
  • Lips
  • TMNT: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
  • Spider Man: Friend or Foe
  • Viva Pinata

Xbox 360 Kids Games to Avoid:

  • Wall-E
